Program changes

The following programs have been discontinued by the University and will no longer be available to commencing students:

  • Bachelor of Business Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Finance (Quantitative)
  • Bachelor of Science (Jurisprudence)

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) - 2009 prices

Overseas Student Health Cover rates for 2009 have been received from World Care.  All Offer Statements and Acceptance Agreements issued from 15 August 2008 will contain OSHC at the following rates:

  • Single - $380 (for 1 year)
  • Family - $760 (for 1 year)

Program-length Overseas Student Health Cover will be calculated using these rates according to the total program duration as contained in the Offer Statement and Acceptance Agreement.

International Office staff profile - Anita Pagnani

In this issue we profile Anita Pagnani, an Admissions Officer who is part of the team responsible for applications from China.  Prior to joing the International Office in April 2008, Anita worked for a private educational institution as Program Coordinator and Admissions Coordinator (International Operations).

Anita has a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Asian Studies and Australian Studies.  She is currently studying a Graduate Diploma in Culture and Languages majoring in the Italian language.

Coming from a multicultural background (with an Italian father and Filipino mother), Anita is very intersted in other cultures and languages.  She has been fortunate enough to travel throughout her life, mainly to Italy, the Philippines and Japan.  Other than these interested, Anita is committed to her martial arts: Muay Thai kickboxing.

University News - Terrorism threat prompts new building designs

The University of Adelaide has been awarded more than $220,000 to help design buildings that can withstand a terrorist attack using explosive devices.  Dr Chengqing Wu and Professor Deric Oehlers from the University's School of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering will lead a national project to safeguard high-risk public buildings against terrorist attack by developing construction guidelines for new, ultra-strong concrete
