Volume 3, No. 2 (1 February 2008)

Arrival reception service

Students commencing their studies in Semester 1, 2008 wishing to book airport reception services or temporary accommodation should book these services online as soon as flight details have been confirmed.  This will ensure that the International Student Centre can make the necessary arrangements on their behalf.  Students should complete the online International Student Arrival Form.

If accommodation in Adelaide has been arranged, it is important that the student bring with them a copy of the contact details of the accommodation provider, including a local telephone number. The International Student Centre can better assist students at the airport if this information is available.

International students are expected to arrive at the University by Monday, 11 February 2008 for the Orientation Program. Please note Faculty policies regarding late arrival:
Faculty of Engineering, Computer & Mathematical Sciences - late arrival is not permitted

For all agents - accommodation update

The Accommodation Service would like to advise that the University managed accommodation, The Village, Citi Townhouses and Mattanya, are all close to capacity for first semester 2008. However, if agents have any last minute requests for University accommodation between now and the end of February, contact the Accommodation Service who will do all they can to find your students a place.

Students intending to find accommodation in the private rental market are advised to visit the Accommodation Service on North Terrace campus as soon as they arrive in Adelaide for assistance, as rental accommodation is in very high demand at this time of year. Any students who have not yet arranged their accommodation should book temporary accommodation (maximum of 7 days) as a matter of urgency.

While the University managed accommodation portfolio is close to full this semester, over 200 places are expected to become available for second semester intake this year, so please keep those applications coming.

For all agents - transcript information

It will greatly assist the International Office, and also the faculties, in assessing and processing applications if you could include as part of the transcript documentation the student’s GPA and a key to the grades on the transcript.
