University news - 3D modelling software may be 'the next big thing'
A University of Adelaide researcher who has developed innovative software to create 3D models from video is one of 25 finalists in an international competition to find "the next big thing". Professor Anton van den Hengel from the University's School of Computer Science is the brains behind new technology which allows users to quickly extract accurate three dimensional models from video. The cutting-edge software has widespread applications for the defence, film, architecture and resources industries, and is presently being trialled by several key market players including Google, Sony Pictures and Autodesk Media and Entertainment.

Our South Australia - Vicki Brougham - Horseshoe Bay, Port Elliot
This is my favourite part of South Australia. One hour's drive south of Adelaide, Port Elliot is nested between Goolwa and Victor Harbor on the Fleurieu Peninsula. I have fond memories of the childhood holidays I had with my family on this coast. We would camp and spend our time sailing, swimming, and fishing. I still visit Port Elliot regularly and revel in the wildness of its sea and the peace that only a place like this can bring.
The seond photograph is of our own Anthony Long (Regional Manager) outside the Port Elliot bakery, considering by many (admittedly biased!) to be the best in the southern hemisphere. Pies, pasties, donuts, cakes, bread - I have tried them all, several times over. During the summer holiday season, long queues form outside this bakery with people bustling to buy their their favourite goodies before they sell out. My favourite is the vegetarian and cheese pastie - perfect flaky pastry with a mashed vegetable and cheese filling. Divine!
