Education Services for Overseas Students – Implementation of new National Code
The National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2007 (The National Code 2007) came into effect on 1 July 2007. On the University's ESOS page, there are information leaflets for new students and continuing students as well as frequently asked questions. The ESOS Framework outlines the rights and responsbilities of international students.
Official education representatives also have obligations and responsibilities, which are detailed in Standard 4 of the National Code.
Overseas Student Health Cover
Premiums for 2008 for Overseas Student Health Cover from the University's preferred provider, OSHC Worldcare, are now available. Students with offers dated after 16 July 2007 will be required to pay 2008 Premiums. A full list of premiums can be downloaded here.
International Office staff profile
In this issue we profile Susanne Durkin, one of the Associate Directors responsible for marketing, whose current portfolio includes Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Africa.
Susanne only joined the International Office in March 2006, but she has extensive experience in international student recruitment, marketing and admissions in South Australian universities. In addition to travelling to many countries in various continents in these roles, Susanne spent almost four years living in Sweden, two of which were spent working as an international education agent with IDP Education Australia.
When not busy recruiting students for the University, Susanne enjoys various outdoor pursuits, including hiking, snorkelling, beaches and mountains.
University news – Professional and Continuing Education move
To meet growing demand and improve facilities for students, Professional and Continuing Educating (PCE) is moving on 16 July 2007. The new and improved facilities offer an environment conducive to learning with modern décor, fantastic views and ambience.
