International Office – Staff News

The International Office welcomes Anthony Long on a 12 month secondment from the University's quality assurance and planning area, which he joined in 2004. Prior to this, Anthony worked for several years in the University's student union as an advocate for the University's international and postgraduate students.

Opening Hours December 2006-January 2007

Friday 23 December 2006: CLOSED from 12.00pm
Monday 25 December 2006 to Monday 1 January 2007: CLOSED
Tuesday 2 January 2007: NORMAL OPENING HOURS

Admissions Processing

The beginning of the year is an extremely busy time for the processing of offers, acceptances and Confirmations of Enrolment (CoEs). We realise the importance of fast processing times so that students can lodge visa applications before the commencement of semester.

Timelines

When the International Office reopens from 2 January 2007, we are aiming to ensure that:

  • acceptances by fax or email are acknowledged within 24-48 hours
  • confirmations of enrolment are issued within 5-8 working days.

There may be some unavoidable delays immediately following the Christmas break, so we ask for your patience during this time.

Acceptances

Please ensure that acceptance and payment forms (signed by the student) and all requested supporting documentation are provided, as outlined in the offer letter. Full payment should be made either by:

  • bank cheque (CoE can be issued on the basis of a copy of the cheque by fax or email; original cheque must be forwarded to the International Office by courier within 10 days); or
  • credit card (as long as payment is within the card's maximum limit).

Acceptance Deadlines

  • The deadline for applicants who receive an offer from SATAC is 12 January 2007
  • The deadline for all other applicants is as stated on the offer letter.

Applicants with offers to Medicine, Dental Surgery, Nursing or Psychology programs should note that strict quotas apply; places will not be confirmed until acceptance information and full payment are processed (no extensions to the deadline are possible).

All acceptance documents and payment should be sent to the International Office by:

Arrival Reception Service

Students commencing their studies in Semester 1, 2007, and wishing to book airport reception services or temporary accommodation should book these services online as soon as flight details have been confirmed. This will ensure that the International Student Centre can make the necessary arrangements on their behalf. Students should complete the online
International Student Arrival Form.

Agent Commissions

From 1 January 2007, the International Office will require a separate invoice (with a unique invoice number) for each individual student recruited, including the student ID number and their academic program.
