Temporary AccommodationIf you are a new commencing student at the University of Adelaide, you can request the University to book one week's temporary accommodation on your behalf, for when you first arrive in Adelaide. To do this, you will need to complete and submit the Arrival Form (see the Meet & Greet section of this web site for instructions). This is a service for new international students only and is not available for continuing students. Please note that temporary accommodation cannot be arranged without an arrival date. There are a number of options for temporary accommodation in Adelaide; most are single bedroom furnished accommodation places in a hostel or residential college. The International Student Centre will endeavour to find you temporary accommodation according to the preferences that you state on your Arrival Form, however, please be aware that places can be limited in peak periods and your first choice is not always possible. Please note that Residential Colleges are unable to provide temporary accommodation while the Semester is in session. The various accommodation options are listed on the Arrival Form. You can also refer to Price Guideline for Temporary Accommodation table below. If you require advice regarding any of the above services, staff at the International Student Centre will be able to refer you to the appropriate service providers.
Temporary Accommodation Cancellation PolicyIf your accommodation requirements change after lodging your Arrival Form with the International Student Centre, you must notify us immediately by return email or fax. Please be advised that cancellation charges apply at the following rates:
In the event that you need to cancel your temporary accommodation we strongly advise that you keep copies of all email or fax correspondence sent to the International Student Centre confirming your cancellation. What about my permanent accommodation? The University has an Accommodation Service on campus that you can access after your arrival to assist you to find permanent accommodation. During the International Student Orientation Program, you will have the opportunity to take part in a Housing Search Workshop, and staff will be available to advise you. You can also access information before you arrive through the Accommodation web site. Permanent accommodation in Residential Colleges and Student Hostels can be pre-booked before you leave home. Pre-booking accommodation means that you will not have to compete with other students for rental units and houses, which are in very high demand in the weeks leading up to the start of each semester. However, pre-booking means that you cannot inspect the property before you agree to move in; visit the Accommodation web site for more information. |
