UNIVERSITY ORGANISED ACCOMMODATION

If you are a new student at the University of Adelaide, you can request the University to book one week's temporary accommodation on your behalf, for when you first arrive in Adelaide. To do this, you will need to complete and submit the Arrival Form (see the Meet & Greet section of this web site for instructions). This service is only offered to new international students and their dependants (partner/spouse and children) and is not available for continuing students. 

The International Student Centre (ISC) can organise the below options for your temporary accommodation.  

Budget Accommodation with no meals
If your select budget accommodation as your first perference on your Arrival Form the univerisity will book you into a backpackers or student hostel. This accommodation can be dormitory style (sharing a bedroom with several people) or have single, double, triple or quadruple share rooms. The accommodation will normally provide a community lounge, kitchen, bathroom and laundry. All these facilities are shared by male and female guests.

• Approximate cost = $110 - $170 per week
     

Residential Colleges with meals 
Residential college rooms, if available, are only offered for temporary accommodation during the semester breaks in December to March and July. Most college rooms are single study bedrooms but some twin share rooms may be available. Each room is furnished with a bed, mattress, wardrobe, mirror, desk, chair and bookshelf. Some also provide the option of ensuite bathrooms and air-conditioning.  

Depending on the time of year three meals per day can be provided, and students with special dietary needs may be catered for upon request.  The residential colleges are located close to the city within 15-20 minutes walking distance from the North Terrace campus and 15-25 minutes bus/bicycle ride from Thebarton and Waite campuses. 

• Approximate cost = $280 - $350 per week

Accommodation for Families & Accommodation for Couples
The university uses a selection of backpackers, guesthouses and lodges suitable for accommodation of families and couples. This accommodation can have single, double, triple or quadruple share rooms. Bathroom, kitchen and laundry facilities may be shared or located within the room. 

Accommodation for families and couples can be expensive and is often limited. If you are arriving with family members please submit your Arrival form promptly.  Early notification will assist in organising the most suitable accommodation for you.

Approximate cost = $90 - $150 per night

 Please note:

• Temporary accommodation CAN NOT be arranged without an arrival date 
• The International Student Centre will endeavour to find you temporary accommodation according to the preferences that you state on your Arrival Form, however, please be aware that places can be limited in peak periods and your first choice is not always possible.

There are numerous backpackers and hostels that offer budget accommodation within the city centre of Adelaide.  They predominantly offer dormitory accommodation (sharing a room with several other people) and using shared kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Serviced Apartments 
A serviced apartment is a fully furnished “hotel-style” apartment.  Serviced apartments range from a one bedroom studio to a luxurious three bedroom townhouse. Serviced apartments are fully self contained and generally include a kitchen or kitchenette, separate bathroom, laundry facilities, television and include linen and kitchen supplies. Serviced apartments may offer other amenities on site such as swimming pools and gymnasiums.

Services apartments are able to be cleaned daily or weekly. There may be unserviced options. Refer to the University’s accommodation website for a list of apartments and more information.
Student Hostels  - Student hostels usually offer single bedroom accommodation, however some offer a limited number of twin, double and triple share rooms. Each bedroom is fully furnished and students have access to a shared bathroom, laundry, lounge and recreational activities.  For a list of options please refer to University’s accommodation website

Temporary Accommodation Cancellation Policy

If your accommodation requirements change after lodging your Arrival Form with the International Student Centre, you must notify us immediately by return email or fax. Please be advised that cancellation charges apply at the following rates:

• You may cancel the temporary accommodation that we have arranged for you, before five days prior to your arrival with no charge.
  
• If you cancel your temporary accommodation within five days of your arrival, but not including your arrival date, an administration fee of AUD$50.00 will be charged to your student account.
  
• If you cancel your temporary accommodation on or after your arrival date the University will charge the full amount of your temporary accommodation fee to your student account.

In the event that you need to cancel your temporary accommodation we strongly advise that you keep copies of all email or fax correspondence sent to the International Student Centre confirming your cancellation.
