You will receive your Orientation Pack, including your study plan, at this session.

Please note that all “New to Australia” International students must attend the Business School Bridging Program from Monday 14 - Wednesday 25 July. A timetable for the Bridging Program will be provided to you during the Orientation and Enrolment Session.

Pre-Enrol English Program (PEP) students
Students who have succesfully undertaken a PEP course are required to attend the PEP Orientation and Enrolment Session on Thursday 17 July. You will receive an Orientation Pack and course advice at this session. You are not required to attend the Bridging Program.

Students undertaking postgraduate programs in Mechanical, Mechatronic and Aerospace Engineering are required to attend a Bridging Program from Monday 21 July – Friday 25 July inclusive from 12.00 noon – 2.00pm each day

Undergraduate Students

Most Faculties are holding Course Advice sessions and providing assistance with enrolments in local computer labs. Where no computer labs are listed in the information you receive during the Orientation Program, students may enrol at other computing areas on campus, such as at Computer Resource Centre, Level 2 & 3 Union House (map reference E5), or at the Student Centre, Wills Building (open 9am-5pm weekdays, map reference L8), where staff will be available to help.

Study Abroad and Exchange Students

General Information

If you have not enrolled offshore prior to arriving in Australia, please read the following information and seek advice from the relevant Faculty or School if you need it. You may need to see more than one academic adviser depending on your course choices.

Course Advice

Who should seek course advice?

  • Anyone who is uncertain about the adequacy of their background knowledge for the course they are considering (please read the syllabus descriptions of prerequisites for all courses you are considering before seeing a Course Adviser)
  • Anyone who wants to enrol in a postgraduate course (these are generally only available to those with a completed undergraduate degree)
  • Anyone wanting additional information about their course/s to confirm that they want to enrol in the course
  • If you want to talk to an adviser before enrolling refer to the section for Undergraduate students for contact details.

Course Load

You should aim for a full-time enrolment of 12 units per semester. In order to maintain eligibility for your student visa you may not take any less than 9 units in a semester.

Enrolling Online

If you have not already enrolled, after you have sought the necessary academic advice you can enrol online at your Faculty/School computer facilities, other on campus computing areas or off campus from any computer with internet access.

Courses in which you are not permitted to enrol

The following Semester 2 courses are not available to Study Abroad students.

  • Architecture
    Approval required for courses in Design Studies, Architecture or Landscape Architecture.
  • Health Sciences
    Any courses in Medicine (course codes MEDIC ST, GEN PRAC, MEDICINE, PAEDIAT, PATHOL, PSYCHIAT, SURGERY) or Dentistry (course code DENT) programs.
  • Languages
    Spanish at Level II and III, Italian, Modern Greek, Indonesian. 
  • Media Studies
    Any course with the course code commencing MDIA, except in special circumstances approved by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science Office.
  • Music
    Approval is required for any Music courses other than those in the GENMUS subject area. An audition will also be required for any performance based courses. 
  • Sciences
    • BIOTECH course code
    • Courses with the specialisation in brackets after the course name, eg: BIOCHEM 3003 Genes and Proteins III (Molecular Biology)
    • Oenology and Viticulture
  • External Courses
    All.
  • Postgraduate courses
    Approval required.
