Peer Mentor Support Program

What is a Peer Mentor?

A Peer Mentor is a continuing student who volunteers to help new students settle in and provide a student's perspective of Adelaide and university life. The Program's Peer Mentors are a mix of international and local students who design and run after-hours activities, hosting a full social program so that you can meet others and experience some of what Adelaide has to offer.

The Support Program

To get you started the Peer Mentors have put together a program of tours and social events in addition to the workshops and information sessions coordinated by the ISC. Numbers for tours and social activities are limited, so please make sure you sign up at the Welcome Centre as soon as you arrive. For further information, please feel free to visit us at the Welcome Centre and talk to any of the Peer Mentors. You may also like to find out about the experiences of current international students at the University of Adelaide by watching some student interviews on YouTube.

It is strongly recommended that you participate in the Orientation Program so you can settle in quickly before your studies begin – students who invest their time and energy into becoming familiar with the University in the beginning are often the most successful.

Acknowledgement

Delphine Gonchond, Hiroe Kato and Chien Huei Lim made a significant contribution to the following Peer Mentor pages and produced the student experience videos as part of a final project for the Course MultiMedia Production A in the Discipline of Media, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
