Past students"I'll definitely be back before too long. It has been an amazing semester... I know I've changed some but I feel like I've become more like myself. One rainy spring day last year I decided that I had too many dreams I was leaving by the wayside and I had a hankering for an adventure. So, here I am, and boy were my expectations ever fulfilled. I have really done it and sometimes I can't believe it. It has got to be the most empowering experience in the world...Everyone is going to ask "how was it?" What do you say? IT was great. IT was hard. IT was beautiful. IT was intense. IT was fun. How do you describe a whole six months of your life that have changed your whole outlook on the world. You can't." Kathy Ream, USA "I think the Study Abroad program is a good opportunity for anyone who wants to study for a substantial length of time in a foreign country... the application process is easy and uncomplicated. This program enables you to pick the courses and lectures that you are interested in and which will be acceptable to your home university. As a non-degree student you have the advantage of being immersed in the day-to-day happenings of the Australians while having the freedom to pursue classes which are not connected to your degree. I chose the University of Adelaide for my year in Australia because of the many opportunities the University provides. During my stay I came to like Adelaide as a city more and more. If you want to relax you can go from the University directly into the parklands which surround Adelaide. You can go for a walk along the River Torrens or sit in the summer sun with friends on the banks. Beaches are also within a short bike ride or a quick tram trip." Torsten Baumbach, Germany "Studying at Adelaide and getting the opportunity to travel across Australia have made this a fantastic year. Since there are no Australian studies classes offered at my home university in the mid-west United States, I quickly jumped at the chance to take Australian History...It has also been interesting to get an Australian viewpoint on other academic subjects. My current environmental biology class is tackling the subject matter relating each of the major topics to current environmental issues and problems in Australia...Surprisingly I have also learned a lot about my own country since I've been here...American and Australian cultures are certainly different...and I've come to respect the idea that there is more than one way to do things and even say things. I will certainly be sad to leave my home here... and it has become a home." Kerry Bodine, USA Study Abroad and Exchange Contact Information
