Defer / Suspend your Enrolment
If you are planning to defer or suspend your enrolment you should visit the ISC and speak with an International Student Advisor.
The University of Adelaide in accordance with The ESOS Act 2000 and The National Code is legally obliged to notify any changes to an international student’s enrolment status. Please complete the Amendment to Enrolment Form and submit it to the ISC if you wish to defer or discontinue your study.
This information will enable the University to accurately complete details of your circumstances through the Australian Government’s student course variation (SCV) system. This may result in the cancellation of your student visa.
Returning to Studies
The information you provide via the form will facilitate the necessary documentation to allow your return to study. At the time of lodging your Amendment to Enrolment Form the International Student Advisor will advise you on the process to return to study.
Note: If you wish to defer/suspend your studies you must have approval by the University if you wish to return. The National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2007 asserts that the University can only extend the duration of a student’s study as a result of;
1. compassionate or compelling circumstances
2. the University implementing a academic at risk intervention strategy
3. an approved deferment or suspension
Submit the Amendment to Enrolment Form to the International Student Centre in person.
