A safe, clean, tolerant study environment

Adelaide is the safest, cleanest, greenest and most affordable Australian city in which to study, according to a 2009 nationwide survey of over 6000 international students by IDP Education. These characteristics make Adelaide ideal for an academically and personally rewarding study experience.

A key requirements for the majority of international students seeking a study destination are the safety and cleanliness of a potential study destination. Whilst Australia is generally a safe, tolerant country, Adelaide's size and population demographic means that it is even safer and friendlier than the other major Australian cities. A survey of over 6000 international students in 2009 confirmed this perception. The survey also established that international students rate Adelaide as the cleanest and greenest study destination in Australia.^

The University of Adelaide also takes the safety of its students and staff seriously. It has 24-hour security on campus, high-tech monitoring facilities and operates free shuttle buses to take students home up to 2.5km kilometres from the University's North Terrace campus after hours and will also provide personal escorts within the same radius.
